Vast, remote, and raw—Niassa Reserve is one of Africa’s last true wilderness frontiers. Spanning over 16,000 square miles, this untouched paradise is home to dense populations of Cape buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, and an incredible variety of plains game. Towering baobabs, winding rivers, and thick miombo forests set the stage for a hunting experience that’s as challenging as it is unforgettable. In Niassa, every track tells a story—and every step is part of an adventure few will ever know.
Our western boundary for 36 miles is the meandering Lugenda River, the main lifeblood of the region. All animals make their way here in the drier months of the year.
The main camp is superbly located high up on this river’s banks. With the most amazing views towards the west, Kambako camp offers luxurious under thatch air-conditioned lodges with en-suite bathrooms, an open-air bar, lounge and dining area, graced with a superb infinity pool for your leisure. The camp has broadband Internet and satellite TV (upon request).
There are several international and domestic commercial flights to Pemba from where you will be escorted through to your private 1 hour charter flight to camp. The sheer beauty and magnitude of the granite mountains, towering over the Miombo forests, open grasslands, bamboo thickets, floodplains and riverine forests and the mind-boggling diversity of this biosphere is unequalled on the African Continent.
This visual symphony, together with the cultural richness of the area and the humble and friendly nature of the local people, will ensure a trip of a lifetime.
Nestled in the heart of Mozambique’s remote wilderness, Kambako Camp offers one of the most dynamic and game-rich hunting experiences in all of Africa. With vast populations of both plains game and dangerous game, it’s a destination where opportunity meets adventure every single day.
From massive herds of sable, nyala, kudu, and bushbuck, to thrilling encounters with buffalo, crocodile, hippo, and even leopard, Kambako is where the full spectrum of African game thrives. Hunters also have the rare chance to pursue unique species like Livingstone eland, red duiker, and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest—making this camp a true gem for collectors and first-timers alike.
Add to that the camp’s luxury chalets, infinity pool, and open-air dining under the stars, and you have a safari experience that blends raw, untamed Africa with comfort and class.

Namaho camp started out as a flycamp due to the immense size of the hunting area and thus expands the amount of ground covered by clients who stay at Kambako main camp. However, this camp can now also be used exclusively. Named after the river on which banks’ it is built on, Namaho camp is compact, quiet and intimate. There are two ensuite canvas tented units and a communal dining room and kitchen with an outdoor boma. A dirt runway provides easy access with the Savannah aircraft, although one can also drive from Kambako main camp which is a 1h30min trip (22 miles/ 35 km).
Nahamo’s location is a great addition to hunt buffalo from as well as plains game species such as warthog, kudu, red duiker and suni to mention a few.
