Situated in the North-western part of Zimbabwe, Ngamo shares an open border with the Hwange National park.
The concession was established by the Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe to generate revenue for conservation programs in the country’s indigenous forest areas through recreational hunting as well as photographic safaris. The permanent colonial-style camp has four thatched units sleeping two guests either twin or double. It has furthermore en-suite bathrooms and an open communal lounge and dining area. Although simple, the camp offers great comfort and delicious local cuisine. The closest ports of entry to Ngamo hunting area are Bulawayo International Airport (BUQ) and Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA).
Ngamo is one of the world’s finest dangerous game hunting safari destinations. The hunting area consists of 8,000 square kilometers of forest land and supports a prolific and diverse number of plants, birds and animal species. Species to hunt include: Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and large numbers of plains game such as: sable, blue wildebeest, zebra, impala, kudu and eland to mention but a few.
Zimbabwe is a hunter’s dream with its abundant game populations and diverse landscapes. From vast herds of impala, zebra, and wildebeest to iconic species like kudu, sable, and Cape buffalo, the opportunities are endless. With well-managed concessions, ethical hunting practices, and skilled professional hunters, Zimbabwe offers high-success, high-quality safaris in some of Africa’s most scenic and game-rich regions.
Derived from the early San inhabitants’ word “Tsoro o tso” meaning the head of an elephant, this concession is home to large herds of elephants and in our opinion currently the best area in Africa to hunt big elephant bulls.
Tsholotsho shares a 47-mile unfenced border with the Hwange National Park. At 400,000 acres, this huge area has fantastic potential for big tuskers as well as lions, leopard, buffalo and limited plains game. The lodge consists of modern ensuite thatched canvas walled bungalows with all modern amenities such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The dining and lounge area overlooks a fire pit from where one can view the waterhole. The closest port of entry is Bulawayo International Airport.
Besides the excellent elephant trophies Tsholotsho CAMPFIRE area produces, we are also particularly proud of the success story of this private/public partnership with the local community. We have several social responsibility programmes being funded by the revenue generated through the hunting safaris, such as a local school and clinic as well as water wells being drilled for the outlying communities.
Zimbabwe offers one of Africa’s most authentic hunting experiences—vast, remote, and wild. From the thick jesse bush of the Zambezi Valley to the open plains of Matetsi and Hwange regions, this is big country with big game to match. Whether you’re tracking elephant, buffalo, or plains game, Zimbabwe delivers raw adventure, skilled PHs, and deep tradition. It’s not just a destination—it’s Africa in its purest form.
